Google God!

Google God!

Below is the definition of Google and God;

1) Google is the search for information about (someone or something) on the internet using the search engine Google.

The term Google is taken from the company Google’s name which was founded on September 4, 1998, by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California. The name Google his been said to be derived from the word “googol”, a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. It appears the name comes from the base of all computer logic (languages) consisting of 1’s and 0’s

2) God is the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being.

As mentioned above the information on the history of the word “Google” only goes back to 1998 (less than 30 years) where the word “God” is said to exist before time (eternal). Below we see that the first verse of the book of Genesis was believed to be written by Moses in the 1500 BC time-frame.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Not only does the Bible teach that God created all things we know about (in the beginning). It teaches that God has always existed.

Psalm 90:2: “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”

I have been involved with computers since the 1960’s, long before Google. At one point I did a lot of study and work on “computer search engine” concepts. The company where I worked for 23 years (Digital Equipment Corporation) created the search engine AltaVista before Google was created. AltaVista developed to provide services to make finding files on the public network easier. Since their development Google has exploded in growth in both technology and usage, while AltaVista has not. Yet they both work on similar principles.

A surprise to some might be that the same “google search” today may not get the same answer today as yesterday, if new data has been indexed by Google and added to Google’s database or if Google has tweaked their search algorithm since your last search the results will be different. The company Google can and does control the results of your search!

Algorithm is a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations (such as a search), especially by a computer.

The same is not true with God. He does not change the algorithm. He is unchanging! God and His Word is the same today as yesterday!

“For I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6)

In other words, God does not change, neither does his Word. Not only does it not change it is the truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.

Sanctify means to set apart as or declare holy; consecrate.

Eph 5:26
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Building our faith in God requires diligently seeking God through studying (washing in) His Word and believing (applying) it to be the truth!

Although Google is a very powerful tool we must not place complete faith in its results. Google can and does tweak the algorithm or change the indexed data which change the results.

Trusting or believing the results of a Google search or the Bible requires not only research but faith. Just as one should do multiple searches on google using different search terms, one should do the same in studying the Bible. The Bible says that faith in God and His Word comes by multiple searches in the Bible.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

What is this faith mentioned in Rom 10:17? Biblical “FAITH” means believing in God and His word”!

The Bible speaks of faith in many places with Hebrews chapter 11 called by many as the “Hall of Faith”.

Heb 11:1-3 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. [2] This is what the ancients were commended for. [3] By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Definition of FAITH as the complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Are in other words if we have FAITH in GOD and His Word, we have complete trust and confidence in God and His Word!

In Heb 11:1-3 above we see FAITH is being certain that God created the world. In other words, God is the creator of all that we know and see, including ourselves. After the writer of Hebrews 11 starts with the above verses, the author then marches us through the book of Genesis showing us how things happening there are pictures of faith in action:

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Abel, Noah, and Abraham are only a few of the people of Biblical history that demonstrated their faith in action. Heb 11:6 below speaks of the fact that we cannot please God without faith and this faith is demonstrated (developed) by diligently seeking Him! This is another way of saying that faith (believing) comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

In our next lessons we will discuss “believing that He is” and that “He rewards” those who diligently seeks Him.

In so doing we will discover that “God is” not only our creator, and also provides the “reward of redemption (salvation)”.

Eph 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.[10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

FAITH in God is
critical for salvation.
